Hardwood, laminate and SPC vinyl flooring.

Supplied and installed across the GTA — including the subfloor prep that most quotes quietly leave out.

Flooring

Pick the floor that suits the room, not the showroom.

Basements, kitchens and entryways all punish the wrong material. Here is how we usually steer it.

Wide-plank engineered hardwood floor in a Toronto living room

Engineered & solid hardwood

MATERIAL 01

Warm, refinishable, best resale value. Main floors and bedrooms. Not our first pick below grade.

  • Nail-down, glue-down or floating
  • Stair treads and nosing
  • Transitions and quarter round
Laminate plank flooring with a wood grain finish

Laminate

MATERIAL 02

The value play. Hard-wearing surface, fast install, wide range of looks. Handles kids and dogs well.

  • Underlay selected for sound and moisture
  • Expansion gaps done properly
  • Great for rentals and quick turnarounds
SPC vinyl plank flooring installed in a finished basement

SPC vinyl plank

MATERIAL 03

Waterproof core, clicks together, forgiving over concrete. Our default recommendation for GTA basements.

  • 100% waterproof plank
  • Warmer underfoot than tile
  • Wood and stone looks

Looking for interlocking tiles for a garage, gym or workshop instead? That is a different product and it has its own page — see heavy-duty modular floors.

Self-levelling compound poured over a concrete basement slab

The part nobody quotes

Subfloor prep decides how the floor feels.

A click-lock floor is only as flat as what is under it. Lay it over a dished basement slab and you get flex, gapping at the joints, and that hollow click when you walk across the room.

We check the slab or subfloor with a straightedge, level what needs levelling, and choose the underlay for your specific situation — moisture below grade, sound transmission in a condo, comfort in a bedroom.

  • Old flooring removal and disposal
  • Self-levelling compound on concrete and plywood
  • Moisture testing before anything goes down below grade
  • Squeak repair on existing subfloors
  • Baseboard, quarter round and transition strips

FAQ

Questions we get every week

What flooring is best for a Toronto basement?

SPC or waterproof vinyl plank, in almost every case. It tolerates the humidity swings and the occasional water event that finished basements in the GTA eventually see, and it is warmer underfoot than tile. Engineered hardwood can work below grade with the right prep, but it carries more risk.

Can you install over my existing floor?

Over some floors, yes — a sound, flat tile or vinyl floor can take a floating floor on top. Over carpet or anything soft, no. We check clearances at doors, appliances and stair nosings before we recommend it.

How long does a flooring install take?

An average GTA main floor of 700 to 900 square feet is usually two to three days, plus a day if levelling is needed. Furniture moving and old-floor removal add to that.

Do you supply the flooring?

We can, or you can buy it and we install. Either way we will confirm the quantity and waste factor before you order.

We measure on site, check the substrate, and give you a written scope with the materials, the prep, and the labour broken out. No pressure, no charge.
